It’s not uncommon for children to have a “security blanket” that they like to keep close to them. A study by the University of Bristol and Yale University showed that 70% of kids develop a strong attachment to an object to self-soothe and get to sleep. Security objects are “rooted in sensorial elements that lessen the stress of separation, while they soothe and comfort the child.” Security objects can “enhance the connectedness between child and adult and amongst children themselves.” A security object can help a child cope with any stress or anxiety they may be experiencing.
